Ulinzi Stars playmaker Boniface Muchiri on Thursday, May 11, 2023, honored an appeal by leading online gaming firm Mozzart Bet to donate his KES 100,000 Man of the Match prize to charity.

Muchiri was named the best player in the second quarterfinal match of the 2022/23 Mozzartbet Cup pitting Ulinzi Stars against Sofapaka, following his outstanding performance.

He capped it with a goal from a direct free-kick as the Soldiers won in post-match penalties to book a place in the semifinals.

Consequently, Muchiri nominated Arizen Community Based Organization in Mukuru Kwa Ruben slums in Nairobi as the recipient of his donation, facilitated by Mozzart Bet.

“Football has given a lot to me, and I thought it wise to also give back to the community, thanks to Mozzart Bet,” said Muchiri.

“It’s just not about the children getting a place to stay here but a place for them to further their talent. Most of them play football and I saw it wise to come see them become some of the best footballers in our country,” added Muchiri.

The kids, on their part, thanked Muchiri for his kind gesture, even as they expressed their motivation to grow and outperform the Harambee Stars winger.

Muchiri won the award alongside Tusker’s Michael Oduor, Kakamega Homeboyz’ Hillary Otieno, and AFC Leopards’ Jaffari Owiti.
