Francis Ochola, a former football player with an impressive background playing for renowned teams such as Gor Mahia, Western Stima, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Muhoroni, has added another feather to his cap.

Among the 27 coaches who successfully completed the intensive month-long CAF C coaching course held in Kakamega, Ochola emerged as a fresh graduate, marking a significant milestone in his coaching career.

Ochola’s passion for coaching was ignited by his former mentors, whose comprehensive approach to coaching encompassed physical, emotional, and mental aspects. Inspired by their all-encompassing methodology, Ochola aspires to emulate their success and become an influential coach himself.

Reflecting on his journey, Ochola expressed his dedication to nurturing and developing players, particularly at the grassroots level, with the ultimate aim of propelling them to the FKF Premier League and even international leagues.

“My main objective as a coach is to contribute to the growth and development of young talents, helping them progress from grassroots football to the highest levels of competition. I want to provide them with the same opportunities that shaped my own career,” said Ochola.

Having retired from professional football in 2019, Ochola made a seamless transition into coaching, acquiring his CAF D coaching license in 2022. Now, with the successful completion of the CAF C course, he is equipped with enhanced skills and knowledge to guide and inspire the next generation of football stars.

Ochola’s journey is a testament to the federation’s key agenda of youth football by investing in coaching education and promoting grassroots development. By equipping coaches like Ochola with the necessary tools, expertise, and strategies, Kenyan football can foster a supportive environment for aspiring players and ensure a sustainable pipeline of talent for the future.

Ochola was not the only former player in the class to pursue coaching. Joining him were esteemed individuals such as John Waw, Laban Gambareko, and George Mutimba, all of whom are dedicated to making a positive impact in the world of football through their coaching careers.
