Nyayo Stadium is set to host the crucial top-of-the-table clash between Tusker FC and Gor Mahia on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Both camps are in very high spirits and are full of confidence, raring to go.

Tusker FC lead the log one point away from second-placed Gor Mahia. It is therefore not lost to both teams the magnitude of this particular game in the shaping of the title race this season.

The Brewers are coming into the game on a high after edging Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 and taking back the lead in the league, on the other hand, Gor Mahia is coming off a loss in the Mashemeji Derby.

Despite their impressive form, Tusker is not taking any chances. They are fully committed to giving their all in securing the win. “We are approaching the game with all the ammunition that we have because they have a mix of good young and experienced players,” said Assistant Coach Tusker FC Charles Okere.

Coach Jonathan Mckinstry has assured the Kogalo fans that they will come out fighting and looks forward to giving a good performance. He is however warry of the challenge that his opponents present.

With two evenly matched teams, the game may just be decided by very small margins. One of Tusker’s signature moves is always having great mental toughness. They have an unrivaled winning mentality that cripples their opponents and have made a habit of winning games very late on. Coach Mckinstry is preparing his charges to be alert for the entirety of the game.

“I don’t think there is a team in the league that has scored more late goals than Tusker it speaks a lot to the mental toughness of our opponents, that it doesn’t matter whether they are winning, drawing or losing the game, they always play up until the 90 minutes. That’s a credit to them and their coaching staff that they have such a mentality.”

With matchday fast approaching we can only wait to see who will carry the day and give their team a much needed advantage in the race towards the title.
