Kakamega Homeboyz are the winners of the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Tusker FC on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the MISC Kasarani stadium.
The first half of the match ended in a goalless draw, making it difficult for either side to find the back of the net.
In the 73rd minute, Kevin Amwayi of Kakamega Homeboyz bypassed the defense of Tusker FC and scored a remarkable goal. This goal not only secured the win for Kakamega Homeboyz but also propelled them to a well-deserved spot in the prestigious CAF Confederation Cup.
Additionally, they claimed a substantial prize of KES 2 million and celebrated their first Mozzart Bet Cup trophy, marking a historic moment for the club.
AFC Leopards finished third in the Mozzart Bet Cup tournament after they beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0 through Eugene Mukangula’s goal in the 67th minute.
During the individual awards ceremony, AFC Leopard’s Levis Opiyo was honored as the Best Goalkeeper. Tusker’s Stewart Omondi earned got Top Scorer award. Finally, Kakamega Homeboyz’s Moses Shummah was recognized as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
