The Kenya National U-18 Boys team, Junior Stars, edged Rwanda in their second match of the CECAFA U-18 Championship after a 1-0 win in their second group A match against Rwanda on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium.

Aldrine Kibet’s decisive 37th minute strike from the edge of the box found the back of the net.

Team Kenya carried a goal advantage into the halftime break and eventually winning the match with the same margin.

The second match of the day featured the other group A teams, Somalia and Sudan. Somalia overcame Sudan by 3 goals to nill. Idris Bilal opened the scoring in the 27th minute taking a lead into the halftime break. Mohad Abdulkadir extended the lead in the 66th minute and Moh’d Omar scored a late 89th minute goal to make it a three goal win for Somalia.

Somalia currently holds second position based on a better goal difference than Rwanda, with both teams having earned 3 points. As the tournament heads into the final group matches, three teams in group A will be in contention for qualification into the semi-finals.

Group A matches round up on Friday, December 1, 2023. Kenya will play against Somalia at Bukhungu Stadium while Rwanda faces Sudan at Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium.

Furthermore, CECAFA U-18 Championship continues tomorrow, Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in Kakamega with two group B matches. The early 11 a.m kick off will be Tanzania against South Sudan and at 2pm Zanzibar will take on Uganda.
