In a dynamic start to the CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA Qualifier, the Kenya U15 girls’ select exhibited their prowess by securing impressive victories. The tournament kicked off today, Monday, December 11, 2023, at Kasarani Stadium.

They marked their dominance with a  2-0 win against Rwanda, courtesy of Faith Boke and Brenda Achieng. Later on, Wambui Tabitha’s lone goal sealed a 1-0 victory against Tanzania. In other results, Uganda drew 0-0 with Tanzania and Rwanda and Burundi mastered identical scores

Meanwhile, the Kenya U15 Boys began with a 1-0 loss to Tanzania and later redeemed themselves with a 2-0 win against Somalia. Other results Uganda beat Somalia 3-0, and Rwanda drew 1-1 with Burundi

This tournament features six teams: Kenya, Uganda, Somalia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Burundi, engaging in a round-robin format. The schedule includes four matches for the U15 girls’ teams and six matches for the U15 boys’ teams.

Off the field, the tournament serves as a platform for vital programs aimed at nurturing football in the long term. The programs are Young African Journalist, Young African Referee, and Safeguarding Workshop.

The CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA Qualifier will run until Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
