The match ignited with a flicker of tension as Joseph Okumu’s early mishap in the third minute gifted Zimbabwe their lone goal of the day. However, with just two minutes remaining before the halftime whistle, Captain Michael Olunga orchestrated a breathtaking moment, seizing upon an expertly crafted pass from Ayub Timbe within the penalty box to restore parity on the scoreboard.
In the 62nd minute, Michael Olunga surged forward to claim the 2-1 lead for his team. Four minutes shy of the final whistle, Michael Olunga pounced on the rebound from Ayub Timbe’s initial attempt, securing the victory with a decisive strike and sealing the fate of the match at 3-1.
Harambee Stars now set their sights on the remaining 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers set to be played this June.
