With matchweek 22 drawing near, the suspense of the 2023/24 FKF Women Premier League trophy race intensifies, keeping us on the edge of our seats. Will it culminate in a nail-biting finish, or will one team secure the trophy before the deadline? Equally gripping is the question of who will face the drop to the FKF Women National Super League, with the dreaded single relegation spot looming over three teams like an avoided plague in this battle.

Kenya Police Bullets and Vihiga Queens

Vihiga Queens are not new to the FKF Women Premier League trophy, and have been favorites at the top in almost every season. However, the not so new kids on the block, Kenya Police Bullets are sitting pretty at the top six points clear of Vihiga Queens in this 2023/24 season.

The unbeaten Kenya Police Bullets flaunt an impressive record of 13 wins out of 17 matches, with only 4 draws. Vihiga Queens, meanwhile, have suffered just one defeat, courtesy of their current arch-rivals, Kenya Police Bullets, in a tightly contested match, in the second leg , at Police Sacco Stadium that ended 1-0.

At this juncture, neither team can afford a misstep in their final three matchdays; a stumble could dash their title aspirations faster than a bolt of lightning, quite literally.

Golden Boot Race

In the Golden Boot race, the rivalry is just as fierce. Purity Alukwe of Kenya Police Bullets leads the pack with 14 goals, closely trailed by Tumaini Waliaula of Vihiga Queens with 12 goals this season. Rebecca Okwaro of Kenya Police Bullets is also in contention with 11 goals, while Nancy Atako of Kibera Soccer Ladies rounds off the double-digit scorers with 10 goals so far.

Relegation Battle

Turning to the relegation battle, Soccer Assassins find themselves in the precarious position of staring relegation in the face, sitting at 13 points in the standings. To stand a chance, they face the task of winning all three of their remaining games.

Nakuru City Queens are also teetering on the edge, with 16 points, just three more than Soccer Assassins. Their fate hinges on a single remaining game against Vihiga Queens in matchweek 21, a crucial fixture for both sides where neither can afford to falter.

Zetech Sparks are equally embroiled in the relegation scrap, tied with Nakuru City Queens at 16 points. With only two games remaining this season, they face must-win encounters against Kibera Soccer Ladies and Kenya Police Bullets.
