Kenya has been pooled in Group B of the upcoming 2024 COSAFA Cup, scheduled to take place from June 26 to July 7, 2024, in South Africa. They will face off against Zambia, Comoros, and Zimbabwe.
Group A includes South Africa, Mozambique, Eswatini, and Botswana, while Group C comprises Angola, Namibia, Lesotho, and Seychelles.
Kenya will kick off its campaign against Zambia on June 27, 2024, at the NMB Stadium. They will then face Comoros on June 30, 2024, at the Wolfson Stadium, and conclude their group matches with their match against Zimbabwe on July 2, 2024, also at the Wolfson Stadium.
The top teams from each of the three groups will advance to the tournament’s semi-finals, along with the best runner-up. The best runner-up will be determined based on the higher number of points obtained in group matches, superior goal difference, and the higher number of goals scored. If necessary, Fair Play points, considering yellow or red cards accumulated in the pool phase, will be used as the final tiebreaker.
In preparation, Kenya will begin their residential training in Nairobi on June 20, 2024.
Kenya’s participation in this tournament aligns with the Football Kenya Federation’s vision of providing a platform for the nation’s Emerging Stars to gain international experience and exposure.
