Kenya Police Bullets have booked a place in the final of the CECAFA Women’s Champions League Qualifiers following a thrilling 3-2 victory against Tanzania’s Simba Queens.
Bullets struck first, with Lucy Kwekwe finding the back of the net in the 29th minute. However, Simba Queens quickly responded in the 39th minute, equalizing just two minutes later through Corazone Aquino’s effort, sending the game into halftime with both teams level at 1-1.
The second half saw Simba Queens take the lead when Corazone Aquino netted her second goal early in the 56th minute of the half. Despite falling behind, Bullets remained undeterred, pushing forward in search of an equalizer. Their persistence paid off in the 61st minute when Diana Wacera powered home a header to make it 2-2 in the 61st minute.
The decisive moment came late in the game when Rebecca Okwaro showed composure and skill, rounding goalkeeper Caroline Rufa before slotting the ball into the net, securing a 3-2 victory for the Bullets.
Kenya Police Bullets will face CBE Women FC in the final on August 29, 2024 at Abebe Bikila Stadium. The victor will earn a spot in the 4th edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, set to take place in November 2024.
