Kenya Police FC continue preparations towards their first leg match of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round against Zamalek on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Nyayo National Stadium.
The law enforcers secured their place in this critical second-round clash following a hard-fought 1-0 aggregate victory over Ethiopia Coffee SC in the first round. Rashid Toha’s decisive goal in the second leg paved the way for what is now one of the club’s biggest matches in its history.
Looking ahead to the next challenge, Kenya Police FC head coach Anthony Kimani expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and spirit. “We’ve had a good two weeks to prepare for this particular match since our last game against Ethiopia Coffee SC,” Kimani said.
“The mood is really positive, every player is raring to go, and I am pretty sure any player that gets an opportunity to represent us tomorrow will put his best foot forward to ensure we get a result at home.”
This weekend’s showdown at Nyayo Stadium will be a stern test for Kenya Police FC, as they face Zamalek, a side with a rich history and extensive experience in continental competition. Acknowledging the strength of their opponents, Coach Kimani remained optimistic about his team’s chances against the reigning champions.
“We are well aware of the team we’ll playing against we know the quality that they have and the history that they have in this particular tournament however, we know that they have a few weak points and that’s what we’ll be looking to exploit in order to have an advantage tomorrow.”
With the home crowd behind them, Kenya Police FC is determined to make the most of their home-ground advantage. The team’s captain, Musa Mohammed, emphasized the significance of fan support in this crucial match. “We urge the fans to show up in numbers to support us. At this moment, it’s about the country, not just Kenya Police FC,” he remarked, calling on the nation to rally behind them in what could be a historic occasion.
Tickets for the match are priced at Ksh 200 for regular and Ksh 1,000 for VIP. Sales will begin on matchday from 7 a.m. at two designated locations; Riadha House (opposite Kuche Kuche), and the Nyayo Stadium police post. The match will kick off at 3 pm.
