Earlier today, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) held a consultative meeting with FKF Women Premier League (WPL) clubs to discuss key areas aimed at improving the league’s overall structure and sustainability.
The discussions focused on improving officiating standards, enhancing league branding, and exploring commercialisation opportunities to ensure the league remains competitive and financially sustainable.
Other key deliberations included
- Safeguarding and Women’s Football Policies: Strengthening measures to create a safe and inclusive environment for players, technical staff, and stakeholders.
- Club Licensing: Reviewing and reinforcing licensing requirements to professionalise club structures.
- Facility Mapping: Identifying and approving standard facilities for WPL matches across different regions, with a two-week deadline for verification.
- Match Recording: Exploring ways to ensure all WPL matches are recorded for development and commercial purposes.
- Capacity Building: Organising workshops for WPL clubs, including training for club media officers to enhance communication and branding.
- Match Commissioner Reporting: Implementing a structured post-match reporting system, including a template to be signed off by both teams, and developing a digital reporting platform for future use.
Additionally, the meeting addressed key league updates, including the finalisation of remaining fixtures and preparations for the FKF Women’s Cup 2025, scheduled to kick off on 29-30 March.
FKF remains committed to working closely with WPL clubs and stakeholders to ensure the continued growth and success of women’s football in Kenya.
