The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the fixtures for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania this August.
Kenya has been drawn in Group A alongside continental heavyweights DR Congo, Angola, Morocco, and Zambia. Harambee Stars will kick off their campaign against DR Congo, followed by clashes with Angola and Morocco, before wrapping up the group stage with a match against Zambia.
Group A matches are all set to be played in Nairobi split between Nyayo and Kasarani Stadium. However, all of Kenya’s group stage matches will exclusively be played at the Kasarani Stadium, allowing the home team to enjoy consistency and home ground advantage in familiar surroundings. The remaining Group A games will alternate between Kasarani and Nyayo.
In addition to hosting group matches, Kasarani Stadium will also stage a quarterfinal clash pitting the winner of Group A against the runner-up of Group B. Furthermore, the tournament’s final and official closing ceremony will also be held at the same venue.
As hosts, Harambee Stars will look to capitalize on home support and familiar playing conditions to mount a strong campaign in what promises to be a thrilling and competitive Group A. With continental giants like Morocco, DR Congo, Angola, and Zambia in the mix, fans can expect high-stakes action from the first whistle to the last.
This will be the first time Kenya hosts a major CAF tournament, and with the spotlight now on East Africa, the stage is set for a memorable edition of CHAN 2024.
