The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Tuesday 19th August held a one-day Club Licensing Workshop in Nairobi, bringing together representatives from all FKF Premier League (FKF PL) clubs.

The workshop, officially opened by FKF General Secretary/CEO Harold Ndege, centred on strengthening club structures and ensuring compliance with CAF and FIFA licensing requirements.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Ndege highlighted the significance of the exercise in professionalising football management in Kenya.

“Club licensing is not just a CAF or FIFA requirement – it is a crucial tool for building governance, accountability, financial stability, and ultimately, a stronger football ecosystem. FKF is committed to supporting clubs through this process, not as a punitive measure, but as a partnership to help them grow,” he said.

The workshop provided an opportunity for FKF PL clubs to deepen their understanding of the licensing process, which covers governance, financial management, infrastructure, legal compliance, and youth development.

Discussions also centred on how professional club management can improve sustainability, attract sponsorship, enhance player welfare, and align Kenyan football with global best practices.

FKF reaffirmed its commitment to continuous capacity building, promising further training sessions and technical support to help clubs meet licensing criteria.

The exercise is part of the Federation’s wider strategy to raise standards in Kenyan football and ensure Premier League clubs are well positioned to compete locally and on the continental stage.
