Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nakuru county branch has launched their 2021 women branch league on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Nakuru Athletics Club.
The official launch was hosted by FKF Nakuru County branch Chairman Francis Oliele and Women representative Dorcas Moraa and graced by the FKF CEO Barry Otieno, FKF Central region NEC member Davis Chege, FKF Vihiga County branch Chairman Kelvin Elegwa Mwangu, and FKF NEC Women Representative Margaret Omondi.
FKF NEC Women Representative Margaret Omondi commended the Federation’s efforts to grow women’s football in the country.
” One of the Federation’s key agendas is women’s football development in Kenya. With this agenda in mind, we have been able to launch Women County Leagues and Women Regional Leagues that will help create a platform where young girls can be able to play and grow in their football career,” said Mrs. Omondi.
FKF Nakuru County Chairman Francis Oliele further expounded on the need for setting up proper structures for our girls who previously had no chance to explore their football talent.
“Previously, our girls were not able to explore their football talent due to lack of proper structures, with the launch of these leagues we change the narrative by giving our girls a stepping stone to advance in their promising future football careers,” said Mr. Oliele.
FKF Nakuru county women representative Dorcas Moraa applauded the twelve teams for their courage to participate in the league and motivated them to take this chance to grow their football careers.
“To our 12 teams in the league, its time to bring your best foot forward and progressively advance to the top tier women league and hopefully be selected to represent the country in the Women National team, Harambee Starlets,” said Dorcas Moraa.
12 teams will take part in this league and will be battling for promotional slots to the recently launched Lower Rift women regional women league at the end of the season
