Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced the launch of the FKF Kwale Branch Beach Soccer League, marking a significant step towards grassroots football development. The league is made possible through a partnership with Kentaste Products Ltd, the official sponsor.

Running for 14 weeks from May to mid-August, the league features 16 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams drawn from across Kwale County. Thanks to Kentaste’s generous KES 1 million sponsorship, the league will be well-equipped with playing gear and match official facilitation.

Speaking on the partnership, FKF President Hussein Mohammed emphasized the importance of empowering FKF branches to take the lead in developing grassroots football. “This initiative reflects our renewed focus on empowering FKF branches to lead in grassroots football. We are grateful to Kentaste for their support, which will significantly boost beach soccer development in Kwale and beyond. As Kenya prepares to host the CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship in June 2025, this league forms part of our long-term strategy to build a solid foundation for the game,” he said.

Hamisi Mwakoja, the FKF Kwale Branch Chairman, echoed these sentiments, expressing his gratitude for the partnership and highlighting the importance of inclusivity. “We welcome this partnership as a great boost to local football development. Including women’s teams is a major step in promoting inclusivity and giving everyone a chance to shine,” he noted.

Kyle Denning, CEO of Kentaste, reiterated the company’s commitment to promoting active and healthy lifestyles. “Kentaste promotes active, healthy living – values aligned with sport. We’re proud to support a community-based tournament that helps young people grow through football,” he said.

The league features competitive men’s teams such as Lowkey, Diani Stars, Orlando, Kombani Youth, Ukunda United, Block Boys, Veteran, Diani Tigers, Bonanza, Dolphin, Generation, Barbadoz, Gombato Youth, Real Junior, Mwamanga United, and Kongo. On the women’s side, teams include Barbados Queens, Red Queens, Ocean Queens, Diani Queens, Diani Ladies, Mwanambeyu Girls, Diani Tigress, and Diani Starlets.

As the excitement builds, the league sets the stage for the upcoming CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship, set to take place in Mombasa from June 6 to 11, 2025.
