CECAFA: Starlets white wash Zanzibar to top Pool A

    Christine Nafula and Corazon Aquino both bagged a hat-trick apiece as Harambee Starlets whitewashed Zanzibar 11-0 in their last Pool A match of the ongoing CECAFA Women Championship, played on Thursday 15 September at the FUFA Technical Grounds.

    Starlets coach David Ouma made wholesale changes to the team that started the first two matches of the championship, and it was Christine Nafula who opened the floodgates in the 12th minute after being put through by Doreen Nabwire. Nafula extended the Starlets lead in the 32nd minute before Jacky Ogol ensured the Starlet went for the breather leading 3-0.

    In the second half, Nafula bagged her brace before Jacky Ogol, Esse Akida, Corazon Aquino and Mercy Achieng scored to take the starlets top of Pool A with 9 points and 19 goals in three games.

    The semifinals will be played on Sunday 18th September.
