Waso FC beat Paradise FC 4-0 in Maralal on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, to become the new Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Samburu sub-branch boys’ champions.
With the win, Waso joins the unchallenged Maralal Mixed Girls in the inter sub-branch finals in the latter stages of the competition in Central Rift.
The Tuesday game in Maralal brought to a close the action in Central Rift, which started in Nakuru sub-branch on Saturday, December 15, 2018. It is also the final activity of the year as the tournament takes a break for the festivities till mid-January 2019.
In Nakuru, the sub-branch champions Nakuru All-Stars came through from a tough pool at Kamukunji Ground, which had Bondeni and Abeingo Youth. They will be joined in the next round by Subukia Sharks who downed JCITA in Subukia.
Mx Soccer emerged top of their pool at Egerton University as Asec topped Wembley and Spotlight Academy at the Mazembe grounds to progress.
Apart from Mx Soccer, Asec FC, Subukia Sharks, and Nakuru AllStars, the other qualified teams from Nakuru sub-branch include: Rongai Eagles, Kiratina FC, NYSA, Bradford, London FC, Super Rangers, Menengai High, Rongai Eaglets and Nakuru West Queens (Girls)
In the second weekend of first-round games in North Rift, two girls’ teams – Eldoret Falcons and Mwiruti Secondary – joined seven boys’ teams; Tumkas, Logos, Dela Sharks, Chereber, Bindura, Cheptiret and Annex Spartans in the next phase of the competition.
They join Mwiruti Secondary (boys), Hoffen Baach, Raiply, Greece FC, Uasin Gishu High, GFE 105, Kaptebee, Kipkechui and Tumaini FC who all qualified when the tournament was activated the previous weekend.
North West Rift
Grass root action concluded in North West Rift at the weekend as all five sub-branches produced the winners who will then face off in the final round to establish one boys’ and girls’ winner to participate in the Rift Valley regional finals in March 2019.
In Kwanza sub-branch Goseta Boys overcame Koptega at Endebess Primary to join the already qualified Kwanza Queens in the final stage.
Boys’ and girls’ champions Kapenguria Heroes – the reigning national kings – and Tar Tar Girls – the national girls’ runners-up will represent West Pokot sub-branch in the final round.
Kapenguria peddled through a tight band that had Kamito Boys and Lelan to sail on.
Solidarity hit Transmillan for the Trans Nzoia West title and will join Kitale Queens who stopped Elim Ladies at the ASK Showground.
Iwa FC muscled past Bwake FC and Geta Young for the Trans Nzoia East title and will accompany Wiyeta Girls in the final round.
In Turkana, Kakuma United was the better side against Mapro 04 and will gun for the Branch title alongside the unopposed Kakuma Starlets.
Kamasena, Mogogosiek, Kiplenji, Chepngaina, Kiptobit, Amalo, Longisa, Kabisoge, Itembe Juniors, and Kapkures were the boys’ teams that qualified for the second phase as action kicked off in South Rift Branch. They will be joined by defending South Rift branch champions Chesoen Sisters who dismissed Kimargis 2-0 on Saturday.
Chepngaina were the best of the lot at Silbwet from a group that also had Ndaraweta and Silibwet FC.
Kapkures overcame Chebilat for the Sotik boys’ title as Longisa edged Korara at Longisa Primary to proceed.
