Harambee Starlets head coach, David Ouma, has been nominated for the 2019 Safaricom SOYA Coach of the Year award, in the event set to be held in Mombasa on Friday, January 24, 2020.

The coach will contest for the award against Vihiga Queens Coach Alex Alumirah, Morans Basketball Coach Carey Odhiambo, KCB Rugby coach Curtis Olago and Malkia Strikers Volleyball coach, Paul Bitok.

Among the coach’s achievements in 2019 was winning the CECAFA Women Championships in Tanzania, for the first time ever. Starlets also narrowly missed out on Olympics qualification.

He was also short-listed in the 2019 CAF  Women’s coach of the year award.

Harambee Starlets, meanwhile, has been nominated in the Women Sports Team of the year category while teenage forward Jentrix Shikangwa is among contestants for the 2019 Safaricom SOYA Most Promising Girl category.
