Fifteen FKF/CAF Instructors have graduated after a 10-day course on the new CAF coaching convention delivered by CAF and FIFA technical expert Abraham Mebratu.
The instructors include former national team coaches Francis Kimanzi and Twahir Muhidin, former internationals Musa Otieno and Fred Serenge.
Other participants were Francis Ojilo, Leonard Saleh, George Karenge, Beldine Odemba, Jackline Juma, Stanley Okumbi, and FKF Premier League tacticians Zedekiah Otieno(KCB) and William Muluya.
Speaking at the closing ceremony FKF Deputy President Doris Petra challenged the coaches to disperse their knowledge far and wide.
“You are the best technical minds in this country, you have to take this knowledge down and use it to build up the game. Kenya is one of the first countries in Africa to receive this training and we must make maximum use of it.”
CAF and FIFA technical expert Mebratu echoed the sentiment.
“We are giving you certificates but they are of no value if you sit with them, the value is the trainings that you will conduct, the coaches that you will develop, and the players that will benefit from your knowledge-this is impact.”
Responding to the challenge, the coaches pledged to use their knowledge to drive transformation in Kenyan football.
“The only way to improve our game is through a massive injection of knowledge. The course was very informative and encouraging. We will go back to the grassroots because that is the future of Kenyan football,” said Coach Kimanzi.
Coach Francis Ojilo from Transzoia said the instructors were looking forward to getting back to work.
“We have received great football knowledge that we know is not for us but for the development of football in our nation. We are going to train quality coaches so that they can develop quality players and if we do this consistently we shall lift our game. “
