The Kenya U23 National Team, the Emerging Stars, lost 2-0 to Sudan in the first leg of their Africa U23 Cup of Nations cum Olympics Qualifier played on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.

Coming on the back of a resounding win on aggregate over Mauritius in the first round, the Emerging Stars fell to a double by Waleed Bakhit: The first goal came in the 22nd minute when he easily tapped in a spilled ball by Brian Bwire before getting on the scoresheet yet again from the spotin the 67th minute.

Kenya will now need to effect a swift comeback in the second leg, set to be played on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, with the winner on aggregate facing off with either of Nigeria or Libya in the third round.
