Harambee Stars defender Eric Ouma has disclosed Harambee Stars players’ enthusiasm ahead of their opening match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations against Algeria.

This as the team held its second training session at the Air Defense Stadium Annexe on Thursday night ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

Ouma, who can also play in a more advanced attacking role, notes that as much as they respect their Sunday opponents, they will not be pushovers, and will be looking to start off on a positive note.

“Morale in camp is high. Everyone is determined and raring to go. We are looking forward to applying what we have been putting in in training,” said Marcelo, as he is referred to in local football circles.

“There is stiff competition for places. This is good for the team, as it helps us work harder individually,” added Ouma.

The budding utility back, who is comfortable on both feet, was brought on in the second half of Kenya’s friendly win over Madagascar and will be eager to make an appearance in Kenya’s opening match on Sunday.

The match has been slated for 11 pm EAT at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.
