Football Kenya Federation, in partnership with Inmates Premier League (IPL), has on Monday, January 14, 2019, kicked off a 10-day coaching course at the Kamiti Maximum Prison.
The course has brought together 40 participants from the correctional facility, some of whom have played active football in the Kenyan Premier League and National Super League.
“Inmates Premier League is happy to partner with FKF for this course. Some of the participants have been involved in football and through this course, they can gain skills that will help them be of benefit to their communities upon completion of their sentences,” said IPL Director, Pastor Joshua Kariuki.
FKF Deputy President Doris Petra, in the meantime, noted that the initiative is part of the Federation’s long term football development agenda which has seen over 2000 coaches benefit from the coaching education.
“This course is part of our corporate social responsibility. As a Federation we are determined to provide coaching education without discriminating their background or condition,” said Madam Petra.
The course will see participants taken through basic coaching under the tutelage of FKF Instructor Leonard Odipo. They will duly be certified by the Federation’s Technical Department upon completion of the course.
