Football Kenya Federation has on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, taken Division Two Clubs through training on the FIFA Connect System, which is set to be used for player registration and transfers.
The project, which will be rolled out to the Division Two Nothern, Central and Western zones after its successful pilot, brought together 40 officials from the Eastern zone who were taken through an overview of the system as well as the registration and transfer process.
“This system is what we have been using to register players in the Kenyan Premier League, National Super League as well as the Division One League,” said FKF Competitions and TMS Manager Frank Ogolla.
“It is necessary that we extend this to the Division Two League, to not only reduce the turnaround time during registration and transfers but to also ensure transparency and mitigate double registration through unique identifiers to every player,” added the Competitions head.
The workshop was held at the FIFA Goal Project, with clubs now required to use the system for registration ahead of the upcoming Division Two League, set to kick off in October.
“Since we came into office, we have endeavored to make this league better, and it is for this reason that we decided to take our clubs through this electronic registration system,” said FKF Nairobi County Branch Secretary Dickson Doyo.
“It is our expectation that clubs will spend less paperwork and time registering and transferring players, this as they also save resources they would have otherwise used in bringing us physical registration forms,” added Mr. Doyo, who serves as the Division Two Leagues and Competitions Committee Secretary.
