Football Kenya Federation has on Friday, September 28, 2018, carried out a one-day Physical Endurance Test for 37 Referees who have been shortlisted to take charge of select FIFA assignments for the 2019 season.
The exercise saw the match officials taken through a series of endurance and agility drills to ascertain whether they are physically fit. They also underwent medical tests prior to the exercise.
“Our target was to test the match officials’ physical preparedness. Those who successfully undertake the PET will thus be in the list we will forward to FIFA for consideration,” said FKF Referees Manager Sylvester Kirwa.
This as FKF NEC Member for Nyanza Joseph Andere emphasized the Federation’s commitment to improving the levels of officiating in the country.
“As a federation, we remain committed to progressively improving the level of officiating in the country as it forms an integral part of the game,” said Mr Andere, who heads the FKF Referees Committee.
“We have in place plans to ensure that we not only carry out PET’s consistently but also train referees across all the 20 branches,” he added.
Among match officials who are in line for debuts in next season’s FIFA assignments include Raymond Onyango, Isaac Memusi, Caroline Kiles, Elizabeth Njoroge and Doreen Kendi.
