Preparations for the 2018 National U13/15 Youth Championships are in top gear following the conclusion of the inter sub-branch competitions in 53 sub-branches across the country.

Players selected from the sub-branches will thus take part in the inter-branch championships set to be held between Friday, August 10, and Sunday, August 12, 2018.

“Close to 2000 players have had a chance to showcase their talent at the sub-branch level. We are now set for the inter-branch competitions this weekend,” said FKF NEC Member for Nairobi Chris Amimo, who heads the FKF Youth Committee.

“The most outstanding players will be drafted into eight all-star teams that will represent their respective regions in the regional finals slated for August 16, to August 18, 2018, in Nanyuki,” he added.

FKF Nairobi County Branch held its inter sub-branch competitions on Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the MYSA Komarock Grounds

The championship will form a platform for the selection of the National U13 and U15 teams, set to represent the country in upcoming international competitions. A couple of players will also join the FKF Centers of Excellence, aimed at giving young players a chance to nurture their talent under accredited coaches while furthering their academic credentials.

“We constituted a national U13 team after the inaugural edition of the championship in 2017. The players have now graduated to the U15 national team. More players scouted from the 2018 edition will thus offer competition at the national stage to the existing players,” asserted Amimo.

The 2018 Championship is a culmination of the 2017/2018 Youth Leagues that have seen close to 20,000 players get a platform to showcase their talents.
