Football Kenya Federation has moved to suspend Mathare United and Zoo FC from the FKF Premier League for failure to sign the StarTimes broadcast endorsement as had been directed by the FKF National Executive Committee.

In a meeting held on December 9, 2020, the FKF National Executive Committee had resolved to suspend the two clubs but extended an olive branch until Friday, December 11, 2020. Signing the deal would have seen their suspension automatically lifted.

Regrettably, despite extensive engagements between the federation and the two clubs, both failed to sign the said endorsement.

Inevitably, and for the smooth running of the league, the federation has taken the painful decision to remove the two clubs from the FKF PL and revised the league’s 2020/21 fixtures, to comprise 16 teams.

Additionally, all Mathare United and Zoo players are now free agents and will be given 14 days, until Monday, December 28, 2020, to be registered with other potential clubs, following the revocation of their registrations with their previous clubs.

Further, and following Article 15 (3) of the FKF (2017) constitution all members are advised not to entertain sporting contact with the suspended members.
