Football Kenya Federation has waived gate charges for the upcoming CAF assignments pitting the National Women team and the National U20 team against Uganda and Rwanda respectively.
Harambee Starlets is set to face Uganda in an Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifier first leg tie set to be played on April 4, 2018, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
The Rising Stars, on the other hand, will face Rwanda in a U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifier slated for April 1, 2018, at the same venue.
“FKF remains committed to developing all aspects of the game. In this perspective, we have decided to let fans watch the matches for free in our endeavor to promote the sport to the Kenyan populace,” said FKF General Secretary/CEO Robert Muthomi.
Harambee Starlets is currently in camp in Machakos ahead of the match. The team overcame Zambia in an International friendly match played on Sunday, March 25, 2018, as a build-up to the Uganda tie.
Should Kenya dump Uganda out in the first round, only Equatorial Guinea will stand in the way of Starlets’ second appearance at the Africa Women Cup of Nations.
The Rising Stars, in the meantime, has been camp in Nairobi for one month, ahead of the Rwanda tie. Should Kenya edge past Rwanda, a two-legged tie against Zambia will be in line for the Rising Stars in the second round.
