Gaspo Youth kicked off their FKF Women Premier League campaign on a high with a 3-1 win over a star-studded Spedag in a match played on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Ruiru Stadium.

Meanwhile, at the Mumias Sports complex, Vihiga Queens got underway their title defense on a positive note when they labored to a 4-3 win over Eldoret Falcons.

A brace by Teresa Engesha, coupled with a goal apiece by Lilian Adera and Phoebe Owiti saw the hosts run away with all three points. Ruth Ingosi, Jackeline Cheseret and Joyce Chelang’at were on target for Falcons.

Makolanders also got a 5-2 win over Kayole Starlets at the MYSA Grounds. Christine Nafula, Purity Nyongesa (brace) and Amy Lasu (brace) scored for Makolanders. Nancy Atako and Mercy Mwachi scored Kayole Starlets consolation goals.

Deposed WPL champions Thika Queens, on the other hand, had a good outing in Kakamega, winning both of their matches, 3-2 against Wadadia and 0-5 against Kakamega Leeds. The wins see the Thika based side go top of the log with six points.

Wadadia, in the meantime, bounced back with a 2-0 win over Palos ladies in their second league match played on Sunday. Mirriam Chelagat and Ruth Chebungei were on target for Wadadia.

Baringo Starlets, promoted to the top tier at the start of the season, kicked off their campaign on the wrong footing with a 0-2 loss to Mathare United Women while Oserian Ladies drubbed Soccer Queens 1-5.
