Kenyan representatives at the CAF Confederations Cup, Gor Mahia, are out of the competition following a 2-1 loss to Algerian side USM Alger on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at the July 5, 1962 Stadium in Algiers, Algeria.

A missed penalty by Mohammed Meftah in the first half served a sigh of relief for the newly crowned champions but they would be caught off-guard by an unmarked Prince Ibara who rose high to head in a corner at the far post. The first half ended 1-0.

Upon resumption, the hosts held on to the score for the better part of the second half and would double the scores in the 81st minute through Amir Sayoud.

Jaques Tuyisenge then aroused hopes of a late comeback with a goal for the guests three minutes later but it only served as a mere consolation with USMA holding on for a vital win.

Rayon Sports, meanwhile, edged out Tanzanian side Yanga 1-0 in Rwanda to seal the second spot in Group B and consequently gain qualification to the quarterfinals of the continental competition.
