    Gor Mahia is out of the 2017 GoTV Shield tournament after losing out to Bandari on post-match penalties in a match played today, July 9, 2017, at the Thika sub-county Stadium. Meanwhile, Tusker, Wazito, and Vihiga United are through to the next round

    New Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr was in the stands as Gor Mahia took on Bandari in a 4.15 pm kick off. Gor Mahia started the match in high spirits but could not break a resolute Bandari defense manned by Felly Mulumba and Veteran Noah Abich. The Coastal side took the lead ten minutes into the second half but was pegged back by a goal by new signing Boniface Omondi. Bandari then won 6-5 on post-match penalties. Earlier on at the same venue, Bidco United eased past Rain Forest FC 2-0 to set up a round of 16 date with AFC Leopards

    At the Camp Toyoyo grounds, Vihiga United and Wazito progressed to the next round at the expense of Ushuru and KCB respectively. Both matches had to be decided via post-match penalties after stalemates in regular time

    Meanwhile, at the Kinoru Stadium in Meru, Tusker dispatched NSL side Palos FC 1-0 courtsey of a goal on the half hour mark by Jackson Macharia. Savannah FC also edged out Taqwa 2-1 to go through.
