The Kenya national women football team, Harambee Starlets, has jetted back into the country on Monday, June 11, 2018, from Equatorial Guinea where the team took part in an Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifier, played on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Estadio de Malabo.

A goal apiece by Gloria Chinasa Okoro and Salome Ghyslaine Nke saw Kenya lose 2-0, consequently missing out on a place in the 2018 AWCON, set to be held in Ghana in November 2018.

Kenya had earlier on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, come from a goal down to win 2-1 in the first leg played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Coach David Ouma has since lauded his charges for putting up a great fight to only miss out on the continental showpiece at the final hurdle.

“We put up a great fight to reach this far. I want to congratulate the players for pushing themselves to the limit,” said coach Ouma.

Focus now shifts to the FKF Women Premier League which resumes on Saturday, June 16, 2018, across different venues.
