The Kenya Women National Team, Harambee Starlets, is back in the country from Malawi where they went down 3-2 in a 2020 Olympics Qualifier.

A spirited second-half show saw Starlets run away with two away goals which they will now bank on ahead of the second leg set to be played on Sunday, September 1, 2019, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

“I must congratulate my players for putting up a strong fighting spirit especially in the second half,” said coach David Ouma.

“We will try to build confidence in the players to win it in Machakos since we have an away goal head start. We just need to keep it tight at the back and I am confident we can go through to the next round,” added the coach.

The team headed straight to camp in Machakos upon arrival in Nairobi and is set to hold a light training session on Saturday morning ahead of Sunday’s match, which is set to be played behind closed doors.

Should Starlets pass the Malawi test, they will have either of Ghana or Gabon in the third round of the qualifiers.
