Kenya has been pitted against Uganda’s Crested Cranes in the opening match of the 2018 CECAFA Women Championships set to be held between July 19 and July 27, 2018, in Kigali, Rwanda.
The two sides most recently faced off in a two-legged Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifier in April, with Kenya emerging 1-0 victors on aggregate.
Starlets will also face off with Ethiopia, Rwanda and defending champions Tanzania in the five-nation tournament set to be played in a round-robin format.
Kenya made it to the final in the 2016 edition held in Uganda, losing 2-1 to Tanzania. Forward Esse Akida took home the top scorer’s prize having netted six goals in five matches.
