The National Women football team, Harambee Starlets, is set to take on Zambia in an International friendly match on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Arthur Davis Stadium in Kitwe, starting 4 pm EAT.

The match is a build-up to the upcoming two-legged AWCON qualifier against Uganda scheduled for April 4, and 7, 2018 in Nairobi and Uganda respectively.

Starlets will miss the services of dependable forward Esse Akida who picked up an ankle injury in camp. That notwithstanding is that Coach David Ouma is optimistic of a positive result in Kitwe.

“Akida picked up an ankle injury that automatically ruled her out of the Zambia tie,” said Starlets head coach David Ouma while confirming Akida’s exclusion from the traveling team.

“There is absolutely no doubt about her technical ability and understanding of the game. We, however, have an able squad that can give a good account of themselves against Zambia,” noted coach Ouma.

The two teams last met in the COSAFA Women Championships third-place playoff match in September 2017. Zambia needed post-match penalties to edge out Kenya after the match had ended 1-1 in regulation time.
