Kenya is out of contention for a place in the 2020 Africa Nations Championships set to be played in January next year.

This is following a 4-1 loss in post-match penalties to Tanzania in the second leg of the first round of qualifiers, played on August 4, 2019, at the MISC Kasarani.

The first leg, played on Sunday last week in Dar es Salaam, had ended 0-0, thus Kenya needed an outright win to go through.

This was not to be as Stars’ bluntness in front of goal, coupled with resolute defending by the guests, took the match to the dreadful shootout.

Focus now shifts to the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, where Kenya is set to face Egypt Away and Togo at home, in November.
