The National football team, Harambee Stars, jetted back into the country today October 10, 2017.

The team touched down from Thailand, where Stars lost 1-0 in a friendly match played at the SCG Stadium on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Teerasil Dangda scored the lone goal for Thailand despite the guests dictating proceedings for the better part of the match

Earlier on Thursday, October 5, 2017, Kenya had lost 2-1 to Iraq in a friendly match played at the Basra International Stadium in Iraq. Hekmat Nouri and Ahmed Ibrahim were on target for Iraq while Michael Olunga scored a late consolation for the guests

Coach Stanley Okumbi was disappointed with the result but noted that vital lessons have been learned

“The two matches have provided us with essential lessons,” said Harambee Stars First Coach Stanley Okumbi

“We are not happy that results didn’t go our way but we will review the situation and hopefully build on the same,” added the Harambee Stars coach who was without key players for the ties

Victor Wanyama missed the match through injury while David Ochieng had issues with his travel documents. Belgium based Johanna Omollo also requested to be excluded from the National team due to club commitments. Vasalunds IF forward Eric Johanna Omondi, meanwhile, missed the second match against Thailand as his club requested to have him back in time for their weekend league match against Akropolis IF
