KCB got the better of Nairobi Stima as Ushuru won away to Palos in FKF National Super League matches played on November 12, 2017, to blow the promotion race wide open.
The Bankers, as well as Ushuru, Wazito and Vihiga United all have a chance to gain promotion, with only two points separating the four sides.
Nairobi Stima went into their match against KCB needing nothing short of a win to keep them in the race for promotion. The powermen would, however, be thwarted in the opening ten minutes. Simon Abuko, Chrispinus Onyango and captain Bethuel Warambo were on target in a span of five minutes to see KCB past Stima. The latter got a second-half consolation by Victor Ochami. Nairobi Stima, 11 points adrift of league leaders Ushuru, is out of contention for a place in next year’s top flight.
Meanwhile, at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Ushuru maintained their place at the summit with a 2-0 win over Palos. Oscar Mbugua and Benson Amianda were on target for Ushuru. The taxmen sit pretty at the top of the log with 75 points from 34 matches. The Ken Kenyatta coached side will be up against MOSCA and Vihiga United in their last two matches of the season.
Wazito also edged out Nakuru All-Stars 0-1 at the Afraha Stadium to keep themselves in contention for promotion. Eric Odhiambo scored the lone goal. Wazito is second on the log with 74 points from 34 matches.
It was, however, a bad weekend in office for MOSCA, who got relegated to the third tier Division One league. The Ministry of Sports sponsored side has amassed only 15 points from 33 matches after three wins, six draws and 24 losses.
Agro Chemical and Administration Police, both tied at 28 points, will be out to avoid relegation. Agro has however played one match more and has an inferior goal difference. St Joseph Youth is 16th on the log, five points above Agro and AP.
