Machakos county to host the Eastern Regional finals of the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom tournament on Saturday, February 8th, and Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Kenyatta Stadium.

Reigning champions Super Solinico and St. Mary’s Ndovea were eliminated from the tournament at the group stages paving for the new Eastern Region champions in both the boys’ and girls’ category.

The boys’ semifinal will pit  four teams namely, Black Panther (Meru), St. Daniel’s High School (Chuka), Tumaini Secondary School (Makueni) and Biashara FC (Moyale) for a a spot at the finals.

In the girl’s semis, season one regional champions, Ngaaka Talents from Makueni will look to regain their lost glory but first they must see off some stiff competition from Chuka Univerisity Starlets, Isiolo Queens and Maabuu Queens from Moyale.

Mr. Iddi Badi, Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Eastern Region coordinator, gave his take on this seasons Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Tournament.

“Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom is one of the few tournaments where despite the outcome of the game, the teams walk away feeling victorious.Unlike the previous seasons, the teams documentations were in order which allowed us to register a high number of teams intensifying the competition,” said Iddi Badi, Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Eastern Region coordinator.

Player’s life skills and mentorship clinics will be held on Friday 7th February to kick off the Regional finals before the players take to the pitch.

The winning team in both the boys’ and girls’ categories will walk away with KES 200,000 each and an opportunity to represent the region at the national finals joining North Eastern’s Berlin FC from Garissa, Coast region’s Yanga FC from Malindi and Kwale Ladies  and Central Regions Falling Waters FC  from Laikipia and Ulinzi Youth from Nanyuki where KES 1,000,000 will be up for grabs.

The runners up will not walk away empty-handed as they will take home KES 100,000 with a host of individual prizes up for grabs for the best performing players.

An all-star team comprising of 32 boys and girls will at the end of the regional finals be selected to attend a 10-day training camp in Spain where they will play against top Spanish La Liga Football Academies.
