The National U23 football team, the Emerging Stars, managed a 2-0 win over their U20 counterparts, the Rising Stars, in a friendly match played on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Camp Toyoyo.

The match, sanctioned by newly appointed Harambee Stars coach Sébastien Migné, was aimed at gauging the quality of the junior national team players, as well as identifying potential inclusions to the senior national team.

Pistone Mutamba shot the Emerging Stars into the lead midway through the first half before Mathare United defender Johnstone Omurwa doubled their lead in added time for a 2-0 win.
