FKF President Nick Mwendwa has on Monday, June 25, 2018, flagged off a team of four players and two officials from the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) who are set to travel to Russia for the FIFA Foundation Festival.

The tournament, set to be held in Moscow between June 23, and July 3, 2018, brings together 48 non-governmental organizations that work to make a positive difference through football.

“We have been invited by FIFA to be part of the FIFA Foundation Festival where we will interact with close to 192 players from other organizations,” said Bethuel Mwaura, who will lead the MYSA delegation to Russia.

“Our team is unique in its composition. Through our persons with disability programme, we will have a mentally challenged player as part of our team,” added Mr. Mwaura.

FKF President Nick Mwendwa, on his part, lauded MYSA’s efforts in using football as a tool for social change, further encouraging the players to give their best in Russia.

“I’m glad to be flagging of this team. I am confident that they will be good ambassadors of Kenyan football,” said Mr. Mwendwa.

The young participants will experience a packed programme that will allow them to exchange, learn, experience Russia and play football with their peers from around the world. They will also have the chance to attend a Round of 16 World Cup match at the Luzhniki Stadium.
