Nine matches have been lined up in match week 14 of the FKF National Super League set for Friday 19 May to Sunday 21 May 2017 as the battle for top spot gets even hotter

Nairobi Stima asserted themselves as strong contenders for promotion after edging out KCB 2-0 in a rescheduled midweek fixture. The win saw Stima rise to third with 28 points, only two shy of league leaders Vihiga United. Stima will be up against Nakuru All Stars away at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Saturday May 20 at 10 am. Nakuru All Stars are no pushovers, however. The team is placed sixth on the log with 21 points, having won six, drawn three and lost four of the 13 matches played

First on the weekend roster is a clash between mid-table FC Talanta and struggling Bidco United. Talanta will be hoping to shrug off a 2-1 loss at the hands of Vihiga United last time out. Bidco, on the other hand, has lost six games in a row and is placed second from bottom with only five points from 13 games. The match will be played today, 19 May, at Camp Toyoyo

Kenya Police will also be in action against their fellow law enforcers, Administration Police, on Saturday May 20 at the Afraha Stadium as from 3pm. Kenya Police has had a lukewarm season so far, having won only three of the 12 matches played. AP will be looking to bounce back from their 1-3 loss to Kibera Black Stars in midweek

At the Chemelil Sports Complex, Agro Chemicals will play host to St Joseph Youth on Saturday 20 May as from 3pm. Agro is ranked 16th on the log with eight points, two more than fellow strugglers St Joseph Youth. Both sides have only managed one win this season

Two matches will be beamed live on free to air channel Bamba Sports on Sunday 21 May at Camp Toyoyo. The first match will be a battle of newbies, with Kibera Black Stars welcoming Isibania. The two promoted sides started the season on the wrong footing but have since asserted themselves as worthy competitors. Kibera Black Stars is ranked 15th with 12 points from 12 games while Isibania is at 11th place with 17 points from 12 games. Black Stars edged out Administration Police 3-1 in midweek while Isibania suffered a 1-2 loss at home to Nakuru All Stars last weekend

The other live match of the weekend will be a clash between former Kenya Premier League side Nairobi City Stars and league leaders Vihiga United. The match will kick off at 4.15 pm. Nairobi City Stars got easy pickings last time out, as their opponents MOSCA failed to turn up. Vihiga United, meanwhile, rose to top spot in midweek with a 0-2 win against St Joseph Youth at the Afraha Stadium

KCB will also be in action against fourth placed Ushuru. KCB failed to close in on league leaders Vihiga United when the Bankers lost 2-0 to Nairobi Stima in midweek. They will be up against a formidable Ushuru that has only lost once this season. The match will be played on Sunday 21 May at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos

Struggling MOSCA will also be on the road to take on Palos at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu. MOSCA managed their fourth point of the season on Wednesday 17 May against GFE 105. The Ministry of Sports sponsored side has however not won a single match this season. Palos, meanwhile, has not been in action since May 7 in a 0-0 stalemate with Nairobi Stima. Palos will be hoping to capitalize on MOSCA’s struggles to get a win that may take them to eighth on the log

The fifth match of the day will see GFE 105 take on Modern Coast Rangers at the Kipchoge Keino stadium in Eldoret. GFE had the best start to the season but somehow lost footing. The Eldoret based side is now ranked seventh on the log with 19 points from 12 matches. Modern Coast will be hoping to shrug off a 0-2 loss suffered at home to Wazito. The former is ranked 12th with 15 points from 12 matches

Vihiga United’s steady rise to the top is commendable; the Vihiga County sponsored side will be hoping to hold onto top spot. Second placed Wazito will however not be in action over the weekend, while Nairobi Stima and Ushuru will be trying to maintain the tempo in the battle for promotion. MOSCA, on the other hand, is yet to win, and their match against Palos could be a chance to break the duck despite their struggles
