A 3rd-minute strike by Bill Oporia is all Ushuru needed to overcome a hard fighting Green Commandos in an FKF National Super League match played on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Camp Toyoyo.
Buoyed by an experience-laden squad, Ushuru got off the mark early in the match when Bill Oporia headed in from a set piece from the right flank to give the Taxmen an early lead.
Green Commandos would, however, settle as the match wore on and could have taken home at least a point were it not for their inefficiency in front of goal, especially in the second half.

Coach Brenden Mwinamo was however happy with the guest’s performance, despite suffering their third defeat in a row.
“We played well despite their (Ushuru) experience. We will, however, work to improve our performance so that we can get our first win,” he said.

“The competition is very stiff, but if we get our first win, things will be easier for us,” added the coach, further boasting of his young team that has produced five players to the National U20 team, the Rising Stars.

“We have a very young squad as compared to Ushuru, and we do not have a sponsor. I believe with these matches being aired live on Bamba Sports, it will not only be a motivation to our young players but will also attract sponsorship for our team,” reiterated the coach.
Ushuru coach Ken Kenyatta, on his part, admitted that the match was not as easy as many would have thought, but expressed enthusiasm with his side getting back to winning ways.

“The match was very tough, but all I needed was three points, and I am glad I got them,” he said.
“I’ll come there (top of the league) as time goes by. No cause for alarm. The league is still very young,” added the nonchalant Ushuru coach.
Meanwhile, in a match that preceded the Ushuru, Green Commandos tie, hosts FC Talanta found it hard to break through a resolute Kisumu All Stars defense the match ending 0-0.

Western Stima also dropped points for the second time in a row, this time against visiting St Joseph Youth in Kisumu. The match ended 2-2. Junior Mukisa and Johana Mwita were on target for Western Stima, while St Joseph’s goals were netted by Martin Oduor and Adam Fadhili.
At the Afraha Stadium, struggling Nakuru All-Stars were felled 5-0 by Bidco United while in Awendo, hosts Isibania were 1-0 winners over Nairobi City Stars.

Three matches will close round six action on Monday, March 12, 2018. KCB will host league leaders Kibera Black Stars at Camp Toyoyo starting 11 am before Administration Police face GFE 105 later on at 2 pm, at the same venue. Kenya Police will also be up against Kangemi All-Stars at the Karuturi Grounds in Naivasha starting 1 pm
