Former FC Talanta and Strathmore FC attacker Bill Oporia scored a brace as Ushuru FC beat Palos 3-0 to close in on league leaders Vihiga United in a match played today, July 12, 2017, at Camp Toyoyo. Wazito also thumped KCB 3-0 in Machakos to go level on points with league leaders Vihiga United

Ushuru shrugged off a disappointing exit from the GoTV Shield at the hands of Vihiga United to brush aside Palos. Benson Amianda got the taxmen into an early lead before Bill Oporia scored on his debut to hand Ushuru a 2-0 halftime lead. He then grabbed his brace in the second half to hand the more experienced Ushuru an easy win. Ushuru is now fourth in the standings with 34 points from 16 matches, a point behind leaders Vihiga United

Later on, at 3 pm at the same venue, Nairobi City Stars edged out Administration Police 2-0. Captain Arthur Museve scored on the stroke of halftime to give City Stars a 1-0 halftime lead. On resumption, Administration Police upped the ante but was undone by an exquisite free kick by former Gor Mahia midfielder Daniel Onyango. The win takes City Stars to 21 points from 16 games

At the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Wazito got a double over KCB in less than four days, this time round with a resounding 3-0 win. A goal by Pistone Mutamba and a brace by Harambee Stars trialist Joe Waithira were enough to give Wazito maximum points to take their point tally to 35, similar to Vihiga United but with an inferior goal difference. Wazito knocked out KCB on post-match penalties last Sunday, July 9, after a 1-1 draw in normal time

In other results, Bidco built on their 2-0 win over Rainforest in the GoTV Shield Tournament last weekend to edge out winless MOSCA 1-0 at the Thika sub-county Stadium while Kibera Black Stars forced Modern Coast Rangers to a 2-2 draw at the Mbaraki Sports Club. GFE 105 also got a 1-0 win over Agro Chemicals at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret
