WPL Preview: Vihiga Queens, Thika Queens looking to cement top spots


    Women Premier League Zone B league leaders Vihiga Queens and their Zone A counterparts Thika Queens will be looking to hold onto their places at the top of the table with match week six matches set to be played this weekend. Four matches in Zone A and four more in Zone B  are set to be played on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June 2017

    Saturday’s only fixture will see Vihiga Leeds host Eldoret Falcons at the Mumias Sports Complex. The hosts, ranked fifth in the eight-team league, will be looking to close the gap with league leaders Vihiga Queens, whom they trail by a massive nine points. All other matches will be played on Sunday 18 June

    Thika Queens

    Zone A table toppers Thika Queens will travel to the Karen Sports Club to take on basement club Soccer Sisters on Sunday. Soccer Sisters has not won a match this season and will have an uphill task against the visitors, who are top of the table with 13 points from five games

    Soccer Queens will also be in action at the Impala Grounds with a match against Mombasa Olympic. At the MYSA grounds in Komarock, two matches will take center stage. Makolanders will be up against Kayole Starlets at 1 pm before Mathare United Women take on Spedag at 3 pm

    Vihiga Queens

    In Zone B, League leaders Vihiga Queens will host Oserian Ladies at the Mumias Sports Complex as from 11 am while Bulemia will be taking on Wadadia at the Butula Polytechnic. Vihiga Queens has a 100% record, having won five out of five matches, with a goal difference of 27 goals, a massive 21 goals more than their closest challengers Oserian Ladies

    Nyamira Starlets will also be at home, at the Sironga Stadium, against Palos Ladies. The latter is the only team from both zones not to have mastered a single point, having lost all the three matches they have played
