Former International Paul Kiongera has reiterated the need for grassroots coaches to get proper knowledge and skills to be able to nurture talent properly and eventually develop the game.
Kiongera was speaking in Kajiado County at the closing ceremony of a CAF D coaching course organized by the Football Kenya Federation Kajiado Branch. He is among 40 coaches that benefitted from the course and received certification.
The ceremony was presided over by FKF Deputy President Doris Petra who urged former players to take up the courses and be active in football.
” I urge former football legends to partake in these courses and help nurture young talents in the grassroots who lack the proper technical guidance to exploit their full potential.”
Kiongera emphasized the role of qualified coaches at the grassroots.
“Knowledge is Power, and we need grassroots coaches and former players to have the power to improve players and take them to the next level. That begins with taking up these coaching courses, ” said Kiongera.
FIFA/FKF instructor Leonard Odipo led the ten-day course.
Meanwhile, in Buruburu, there’s an ongoing CAF D coaching course that is set to close on Friday, December 16, 2022.
