The race for the top four spots in the FKF National Super League has been captivating fans throughout the 2022/2023 season, generating excitement and anticipation.

Two main title contenders, Murang’a Seal and Shabana, have been locked in a fierce battle for the top position. Meanwhile, in recent weeks Mara Sugar and Migori Youth have been fiercely competing for the sole promotion play-off spot.

Shabana FC, a community-based side, has experienced a resurgence this season. Both fans and players are pushing for the ultimate prize – winning the National Super League title and securing automatic promotion back to the FKF Premier League.

Shabana has been absent from the Premier League scene for a considerable period of time and is eager to recapture past glory.

Title contenders Murang’a Seal are determined to make their first-ever appearance in the FKF Premier League since their establishment. Currently leading the NSL standings, they are tied in points with Shabana who have a game in hand, only a superior goal difference separating the two teams.

In round 32, Murang’a Seal claimed the top spot after a thrilling 1-0 victory over Naivas. On the other hand, Shabana FC couldn’t respond effectively as they dropped points in a fiercely contested derby against Gusii FC in round 33.

In the battle for the third play-off spot, Mara Sugar has overtaken Migori Youth to secure the third position following their 7-0 win against Silibwet in round 33. Both teams have accumulated 53 points. Mara Sugar is finally living up to their potential this season and is determined to secure one of the top positions in the league.

Migori Youth, who have underachieved in previous seasons, are now serious contenders for promotion to the premier league. They have set their sights on this goal and, with only goal difference separating them from Mara Sugar, they have everything to play for.

Defining moments of the season await as Migori Youth faces neighbors Shabana at Gusii Stadium on Sunday, June 18. Round 37, will feature top of the table sides Murang’a Seal and Shabana on Sunday, July 2 in St. Sebastian. These matches could potentially have significant implications for the final outcome.

With only five games remaining in the season, the question remains: Who will earn the all-important promotion to the FKF Premier League? Excitement builds as fans eagerly await the thrilling conclusion of the National Super League season.
