The Kenya Women’s U17 National Team, Junior Starlets, has entered the third day of their residential training today, Tuesday April 30, 2024 in preparation for their upcoming two-legged third-round FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.
They begin with the first leg in Ethiopia on Friday, May 10, 2024, followed by the second leg at home on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
All players have reported to camp ahead of the qualifier.
Head Coach Mildred Cheche is confident in her team’s preparedness ahead of the qualifiers stating,
“I think we are prepared because most of our players have been competing at the highest level locally so hopefully they’ll rise up to the task ahead, so I am hopeful we have a great team that is going to play well.”
The team is scheduled to travel to Ethiopia on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
After the two legs, the winner of the tie on aggregate will proceed to the fourth and final round, where they will face either Djibouti or Burundi. Following this match, the victor secures an automatic qualification to the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in October, to be held in the Dominican Republic
