Kenya U17 National Team coach Michael Amenga has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance against Egypt in the opening match of the UNAF U18 Tournament.

This is despite the team losing 1-0, courtesy of a Mahmoud Sober stoppage time strike at the Tolip Borg El Arab Stadium.

“The boys gave a good account of themselves as much as we didn’t get the result we were looking forward to,” said coach Amenga.

“We have had a recovery session today (Sunday) and our sights are set on getting a positive outcome on Wednesday against Algeria,” he added.

Midfielder Abdulmalik Hussein missed Sunday’s session after picking up a knock against Egypt and coach Amenga noted that he has enough depth to fill in the void.

“Hussein got injured, he may miss Wednesday’s match. We, however, have enough capacity to fill in the void,” he said.

Kenya will come up against Algeria on Wednesday before rounding up the five-nation tournament with matches against Tanzania and Morocco on Friday and Sunday respectively.
