Kariobangi Sharks, Kenya Police and Riverplate FC are through to the Quarterfinals of the FKF SportPesa Shield following wins over Modern Coast, Leysa FC, and Friendzone respectively on Saturday, July 21, 2018.
Sharks had to come from a goal down to dump out Modern Coast 3-1 in their match played at the Mbaraki Sports Club. James Mazembe, Bolton Omwenga, and Duke Abuya were on target for the guests.
Kenya Police, meanwhile, needed post-match penalties to go past non-league side Leysa FC while Riverplate edged out Friendzone 2-0 to also book a place in the last eight. Both matches, played at the Narok Stadium, were aired LIVE on Y254 TV.
Three more matches will be played on Sunday, July 22, 2018, with two of them set to also be aired LIVE as was the case on Saturday.
Tusker FC will be up against Bungoma Super Stars in the first match set to kick off at 1 pm before paving way for a clash pitting Sofapaka against Western Stima at 3.15 pm. Vihiga United will also be playing host to Ulinzi Stars at the Mumias Sports Complex starting at 3 pm.
The final round of matches will be played on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the MISC Kasarani to sum up action in the round of 16. Defending Champions AFC Leopards will face off with Division One side Mwatate United in the first match before Gor Mahia squares it out with Posta Rangers.
